FutureSelf...
Research shows that when people try to visualize themselves in the future, they actually think of themselves as a different person. Research also suggests that people's inability to visualize their future self prevents them from making plans that will ensure the well being of their personal and professional lives. With that in mind, go to in20years.com, upload a picture, and age yourself for both 20 years and 30 years.

list of accomplishments
You have to imagine it to make it real...
Imagine a time, 30 years from now. Now imagine that you are receiving a lifetime achievement award and the individuals who confer the award have asked you to reflect on your life in 5 year increments. For each of the 5 year increments, simply list your accomplishments. Remember to think big because you have, after all, done something so noteworthy as to be receiving an award for all that you have accomplished!

the ideal day
Schedule the Ideal Day…10 years from now!
Imagine a typical day in your life 10 years from today. This should be a regular day, not a holiday, your birthday, or some other special kind of day – just an ordinary day like a Tuesday or Thursday. Describe your actions, activities, thoughts, location, and the people you see and interact with.
Consider the following:
What is the environment like?
What are you wearing?
What are you doing?
Be as detailed as possible, schedule the entire day (from waking to going to sleep), and have FUN – This is your day!

Group presentation
You are being asked to provide honest and supportive feedback to your peers regarding the presentation you saw today. Note that comments about your rating are required for each area. Providing only positive feedback, without critical assessment, does nothing to help your peers improve their presentation technique. Please ensure that your feedback is respectful and professional. Refer to the Assignment page for descriptions of the assessment criteria.

The Academy of Achievement
Today's discussion will center around your review of members of The Academy of Achievement. Questions to consider:
- Which individual from the academy did you choose? Why did you choose this person?
- How is this person similar or different from you?
- Does this person's accomplishments make you think differently about achievement? If so, how?
- If you were to achieve your potential, what would that look like?
- If you achieved your potential, would you be recognized for your achievements in ways similar to the individuals identified for The Academy of Achievement? Why or why not?

six degrees of seperation
You are going to "map the network" of your desired profession. Using the "6 degrees of seperation" theory first set out by Frigyes Karinthy in 1929. The goal is for you to have an understanding of the pathways you can take to meet the people in your field that are doing the work you want to do, have influence, or might be able to help you on your journey to a satisfying career. I will show you during class how I am only two degrees seperated from Obama and the Pope!
